hey folks

just a quick admin post.

I know I have been a slack with the challenge posting, but I feel the interest isn't quite there at the moment, be it because SG1 has ended or because people are busy or because the prompts are boring or because of some other reason. I am quite happy to keep posting challenges if people are still keen but maybe it's time to ask about some different ideas for the community so that we could try to maybe encourage more people to post. I've suggested a few things below... and would love some feedback on what you do/dont like, what else you might like to see here, any other suggestions you might have. Even if you just want things to stay the same as they are now, please let me know that. I just really don't want the community to completely die off like so many challenge communities do. So if you have any suggestions at all, please do comment and let me know.

some ideas:
- a roster of members (or a member chosen randomly) to post challenges occasionally
- a monthly challenge of more than one prompt instead of a weekly single one
- leave the prompts as they are and make it a "pick xx prompts from the list and write that many drabbles" kind of challenge.
- instead of text prompts we have visual prompts using screencaps
- caption challenge - a screencap is posted and people post captions and then the following week/month we write drabbles based on the captions
- a round robin story where each person participating adds 100 words exactly before the next person adds to the story
- should longer than 100 word fics be allowed/encouraged
- a monthly vote for your favourite drabble of all the drabbles posted that month (with a graphic award)
- a sort of a secret santa thing where you are paired up with someone to write them a drabble
- some combination of the above in addition to regular challenges

I think keeping the regular challenge is good but maybe spice it up a bit by tossing in one of those suggestions...*shrug*...I'll still write stuff no matter what(and I swear I'll try really hard to keep it 100 words*g*)

Personally I am very sorry I haven't been more active on here due to RL.
I credit drabble writing and this comm in particular for keeping the creative juices flowing (yeuch! lol).

I would hate to see it die - after all we will see Sam in Atlantis and in the movies, so there's life yet!

I'll say what I like and others please feel free to shoot me down:

I like - a member's challenge roster, I'd like a fortnightly challenge, I love the idea of a 'write a drabble from a screencap' challenge every now & then, I'd go in for drabbles, double drabbles or triple drabbles - I guess there are other comms for longer fics and sticking to the '100, 200, 300' is a good drabble discipline.

I probably wouldn't go in for a Round Robin or paired writing, in all honesty.

These are just my thoughts, but am interested to hear what others think.

Thanks for poking us, lab_brat ;D

What about a gen, ship pairing and slash pairing challenge every whenever. Or maybe larger on-going challenges, for episodes or something.
